Working with Eastside Vocational services has saved a lot of time, and relieved a lot of stress for me the safety manager of a large manufacturing facility. My team and I decided to proactively have JA’s completed for our job positions prior to an incident occurring. Working with Eastside Vocational Services, we have been able to develop a plan that facilitates creation of these JA’s starting with our highest risk positions, and we were able to do this in a way that is affordable and provides benefit to us as a company as well as to our employees. Having accurate JA’s on hand helps to facilitate a safe and speedy return to work of employees for both work related and non-work related injuries. These JA’s can be sent to the attending physician during the injured employees initial consultation rather than waiting the normal two week waiting period for the follow up appointment. In this way we are able to safely return an employee to work in either their job of injury, or in a light duty position immediately. Many studies have shown that returning an employee to work is the best way to facilitate healing, and it is beneficial to the company as well as the other employees through elimination of overtime and training costs. Overall my experience working with Eastside Vocational Services has been extremely positive, has saved my team valuable time, and has saved our organization money. I would highly recommend Eastside Vocational Services to any employer who is looking for a safe and cost effective way to facilitate their return to work program.

Having JAs done for high risk jobs at our facility is an important tool for measuring risk accurately, as well as providing more detailed information to our job descriptions. Working with Eastside Vocational Services has been a fantastic experience. They have proven to be professional, efficient and thorough; providing an invaluable tool in our Return to Work program. When they conduct an employee interview, they are extremely patient with our staff and they show just how much they want to understand what the employee does every day. The work they have completed for us is done in a timely and efficient manner. The JAs they have completed have assisted our local medical providers with a clear picture of what the employee does on a daily basis without having to leave their practice and visit our facility. From an Occupational Health perspective, I can state with certainty that having a JA completed for every position in our facility will help prevent occupational injuries in the future. With the work Eastside Vocational Services has completed for us already, I eagerly await to see them in the near future as they are an indispensable partner in our Return to Work program.

My name is Ashley Frailey, I was referred to Eastside Vocational Services, Inc. for the PGAP program by my worker's comp adjuster. On March 11th I broke my fifth metatarsal and fibula on my right ankle by falling and missing a step down a staircase at my job. Now that I have your attention, I want to explain how much the ladies at Eastside Vocational helped me through the PGAP program.
When I first went into the office I was in sweatpants and a sweatshirt. I was down in the dumps, nervous to be there and to explain how I got there in the first place. I honestly wish I would have gone through the program when I got into my last car accident because by the time I was done with the program I had so much more confidence. The ladies of the office where always friendly and kind, always made me feel welcomed.
Once I got to feeling better, I started to dress better and not in sweatpants and sweatshirts and the ladies there would compliment me on my outfits and my make-up. I worked with Debbie as my vocational counselor and Michelle as my PGAP provider. They were both so great and helpful that by the time I left the program I honestly didn't want to leave.
I feel like if you are going through something like I did, and you have the chance to work with the ladies at Eastside Vocational Services, Inc. that you should do it. They help you gain your confidence back and help you get a schedule to your life. They also help you get healthy by having you go on walks and do stuff that makes you happy besides just going to work.
I feel like I will always be indebted to them for all the help and support they provided me. I was so happy that I got the chance to work with Eastside Vocational Services, Inc. I suggest if you are in that office and if you were in the same boat that I was in, you take the chance and allow those ladies to help you swim and not drown. Because it’s a sink or swim when you end up injured and depressed, so allow them to help you swim and succeed in life because they won't steer you in the wrong direction and they will help you get motivated.
I just want to close up by saying thank you to Deb and Michelle for helping me build my confidence back in the work force because if it wasn't for you ladies I was going to give up. I literally put out like 50 to 100 job applications and even when I felt like I wasn't going to be able to get a job again, I did. Because Deb, you helped me with interviewing and how to do it better. Michelle, you gave me the confidence knowing that everything will be ok even when I felt like giving up, you were there to support me. I appreciate all that you and Eastside Vocational Services, Inc. has done for me.
Sincerely your friend,
Ashley Frailey
I just wanted to take a moment and tell you what an amazing individual you have in Nathan Thomas. This man has been a beacon of light, inspiration, and support in an otherwise very tumultuous time in my life (an experience I wish for no one to ever have to go through). Not only has he been extremely supportive, but also believed in me when I didn’t even believe in myself. He has become a big part of my success, and he has my respect and gratitude for just being an extraordinary human being. I definitely couldn’t have realized my potential without him. Let me just give a quick testament to which I am referring.
During graduation last night, I had the distinct pleasure of being able to walk with my wife, who also graduated from the nursing program. As we sat there during commencement, we had gotten texts from our family that they had left after we crossed the stage. Thinking nothing of it, we had proceeded to leave immediately after. As we were leaving, I hear a distant call of someone yelling “BRIAN!” I am sure you know that overnight, about a 1 ½ years ago, I lost hearing in my left ear. It was sudden and no one knows why. Anyway, I thought I heard my name, and turned around. It was Nathan! He had literally run from the stands and caught us on the other side of the stadium as we were walking out! Out of breath and wearing a huge smile. As he was trying to recoup from running the 200-yard dash, he hands me a card (one I’ve decided to frame as inspiration moving forward). It was from your organization and filled with congratulations. He congratulated me, and as we said our goodbyes and walked away, I turned to my wife and said, “That’s the kind of dedication he has exhibited throughout the entire process.”
Anyway, it makes me feel better knowing people like him are out there in the world, and I hope you know, what a treasure you have in him.
Sincerely,
Brian J. Enriquez
My company was awarded the SHIP Grant through Department of Labor and Industries and we were able to partner with Eastside Vocational Services, Inc in creating a transitional return to work toolkit. Eastside Vocational Services, Inc played a critical part in conducting all the on-site physical job analysis and transitional duty employer job descriptions for our locations across the state. And this was not an easy task, but Eastside Vocational Services, Inc was so understanding, patient and supportive through the entire process. By having accurate physical job analysis and a bank of transitional duty employer job descriptions, it has improved our return to work program greatly. Eastside Vocational Services, Inc also collaborated with other stakeholders to assist us in including a worker-centric approach to return to work to prevent work disability, as part of our transitional return to work toolkit. Eastside Vocational Services, Inc is a great company to work with, they provide great costumer service, are very skilled in what they do and are always professional. I would highly recommend.

Washington Fruit was in need of professional job analyses (JA’s) to be completed for the many jobs preformed on our farms and warehouse; Eastside Vocational Services, Inc. did just that. Lori and her team was very thorough in collecting the required information needed to put together over 35 JA’s visiting with employees and management to learn the content and human requirements of jobs and how they are performed. This information will support providers when they receive our JA’s to get a clear picture of what the job entails without having to seek clarification on the job duties. We are eager to get these JA’s in the hands of the provider to allow for quick review and turnaround making it possible to get employees back to work much quicker.
I am more than pleased with our experience with Eastside Vocational, Inc. Their staff are professional and experienced, they were able to hit the ground running to begin contributing immediately. Their services do not disappoint.
